What's NewProgressThe architectural schematic designs for the new animal shelter are now available for viewing! Please come into the shelter, or visit the Town Hall to see the plans for Bristol's future, state-of-the-art, no-kill animal shelter. These plans are like none you have ever seen before; you will be awed at the new concepts that have been incorporated into the design. You will also see the site on which the new shelter will be built.
The Town of Bristol has aproved the bond to build the new animal shelter, and a building committee has been assembled. On March 11th, 2010 the Town of Bristol held it's first workshop for the new animal shelter. Click to view the Bristol Animal Shelter Presentation. A new site for the animal shelter has been designated. The new shelter will be located northwest of the current animal shelter (property behind St. Gobains). A contract with the original Friends architect, rauhaus freedenfeld & associates(rf & a), has been signed! rf& a is officially the architect for this project! The Friends Group has met with rf & a and we are now in the process of redesigning the plans to accomodate the new location. On October 20th, the architect presented three renditions of the new animal shelter. All three of the renditions have the main part of the building as the same, what the architect changed was the dog kennels. He presented three different concepts to housing dogs. Two of the concepts are what you see in shelters from the past, we call these doggy prisons. The third concept was to house the dogs in what we call dog pods. The architect has proven that the dog pods concept is the best way to house dogs. The Friends group is hopefull that the CPC Committee will see the benefits and choose this rendition. _____________________________________________________________________
