Special Thank Yous!

A huge thank you to Debbie Coccio and for her continued support and fundraising efforts on behalf of the shelter.  On November 19th, Debbie, with the help our volunteers, hosted our 4th Annual Macaroni Dinner.  The crowd was spectacular and the food was fabulous!  We'd also like to thank all of the volunteers who baked and the local companies that offered us the great raffle items; you are who continue to make our group a success!  Woof and Meow!

Friends would like to thank Lucy Spence, and her mom, Emily, and Silpada representative Tracy Mulvey for hosting a Silpada party with 30% of the sales going to our animals!  Lucy has been a volunteer since she was 11 years old.  Four years later she is still giving us her all!  The animals all love her very much!

A big Happy 10th Birthday to Laney Goodrich!  For the second year in a row, Laney's birthday wish was that her friends bring her donations for the shelter animals! Her generosity and love for the animals is greatly appreciated!  It is the thoughfulness of our young volunteers, such as she, that keep us moving forward and keep our future looking bright!  Woof & Meow!

A big Thank You to Diane Ribeiro, aka "Pickles" for her continued support of the shelter.  On June 5th she hosted the "4th Annual Ride for Pets".  The weather was great, the food was delicious and the raflles were lots of fun!  Over $2,100.00 was raised for our animals!  Thank you to all who helped out and to all who attended!  It was a great success and we are already looking forward to next year's ride!

Thank you so much to the Roger Williams University's Theater Department!  They put on a matinee for our animals and raised over $500 in one afternoon!  Their thoughtfulness and generosity are greatly appreciated!

A huge thank you to Lori Sendroff, one of our dedicated volunteers, for organizing and putting on, for the 4th year in a row, the Friends of the Bristol Animal Shelter's Mardi Gras Ball!  The Ball was held on February 12th and was a huge success!  Thank you also to all of our supporters and volunteers, we couldn't have done it without you!

Thank you to Dental 1 who recently raised $500 for our animals.  Their Bristol office raised the money during their "Happy Holiday Tails" fundraiser.  Wooden cat and dog ornaments were handed out to children who then painted them and returned them to the office.  For every ornament returned, $1 was donated to the shelter which was then matched by Dental 1.  A big thank you also to all of the children who participated!  Dr. Melfi and his staff sure did make the holidays special for our animals this year!

Woof and Meow to Mrs. Towers' 7th grade class at Mt. Carmel School.  As a class, they collected cat food and supplies for our cats.  They delivered the supplies to our shelter during a recent visit.  The picture of them was taken in our Healthy Cat Room.  Their thoughtfulness and kindness are greatly appreciated!

Woof and Meow to International Association of Admisistrative Professionals, SE CT for choosing the Bristol Animal Shelter as their special non-profit for the season!  They did a drive for the animals and collected boxes of food, treats and toys!  The holidays have come early here at the shelter...the animals are having a ball!

Let's give a big WOOF & MEOW to Mrs. Quinlan's Advirsory Class from the Bristol Warren Regional School District!  They held a bake sale and raised $129.30 for our animals!  Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!  A special thank you to Noah Hanmer for all of his efforts on behalf of our animals!  It is young adult volunteers, such as he, that keep our future bright!  A big MEOW from Big Red!

A Special thank you to our friends at the Little Friends Preschool who took the time to make dog biscuit treats for our four-legged friends for the holidays.  All of the dogs loved them and wanted to share the recipe with all of their furry friends!

Beefy Biscuits
2 C whole wheat or all purpose flour
1 C cornmeal
1/4 C wheat germ
2 tsp beef bouillon

Mix above ingredients in a medium bowl.  Add

1 lg egg
1 TBL cooking oil
1 C hot water

Stir well.  Roll out on a well floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness.  Place on ungreased cooking sheet.  Bake on center rack, (275F or 140C) for about 2 hours until dry and very hard.  Let stand overnight to dry thoroughly.  Makes 10 big bones and 14 puppy bones.

Meet Foley

...virtually of course!  Foley was our shelter guardian.  He came to us several years ago.  He had been badly abused, and mistrusted anyone who approached him.  With time, patience, and guidance Foley had come to believe in us and trust us.  In turn, he had taken to protecting the shelter, its foster residents, and human friends.  Foley found a home at the shelter, and a purpose, but it was time to offer more to Foley and the homeless animals that come into our care.  Therefore Friends of the Bristol Animal Shelter was formed to aid in this mission.
